During 2014, a national programme to extract certain elements of patient data will be begin. Patients who do not wish their data to be extracted should advise reception so this can be noted on their patient record. You can get further information from the website at www.hscic.gov.uk

Pharmacy Upgrade - A note to our patients:
The management of the pharmacy has changed and we are pleased to welcome Mr Uma Gajendran as pharmacy superintendent from 21st January 2019.

The pharmacy refurbishments have now begun and we are currently operating from a temporary pharmacy within the old pharmacy footprint.  This is accessible from the main surgery reception. The pharmacy will be open and continue to operate as normal during the refurbishment and continue to fulfil prescriptions as well as operating a shop with over the counter medications. We appreciate that the past 2 months have been incredibly busy with unacceptable levels of delays for some patients but staff have been working extra hours and across weekends and deliveries have been scheduled daily to try to minimise the impact on patients.  We recognise that we haven’t been able to do that in all instances and apologise for the impact this has had on our patients.  We are now operating a regular service and prescriptions should be brought either to the pharmacy or requested on line using Patient Access (please ask at reception for details of how to sign up to Patient Access).

We are investing in a new robot and in completely refurbishing the pharmacy.  The new robot will be able to hold significantly more stock and dispense significantly faster than our current robot. We will be installing 2 till points to reduce queues and to reduce waiting times. Electronic screens will allow fast ordering of over the counter medicines and during 2019 we will be installing a 24 hour pick up point, the first to be installed in the UK,  to allow prescriptions to be collected at any time of the day or week.  The works are anticipated to be completed by the end of February 2019.

We will continue to provide regular updates on the progress of the refurbishment.

Thank you for your loyalty and custom.

GP Online Service:
Patients registered with Charing Surgery can now book some appointments and request repeat prescriptions, by using ‘GP online services’ which can be accessed on smartphones or from any PC at a time convenient to patients.  This service works alongside traditional methods of accessing services, it does not replace them. To register for GP online services, including booking blood tests on line and ordering repeat medication, please drop in to the surgery and ask us to register you for Patient Online Access.
